April Garner is an artist living in Austin. Having spent her youth on the rivers, lakes, and wild areas of Texas has given her an ongoing appreciation of the land and animals that impact and influence her work as an artist.
The imagery for her paintings comes from the places she visits regularly with close observation of wildlife over time, their gestures and actions, resilience, and survival. This is inspiration for paintings that merge representation with expressive abstraction.
April’s work captures the flora and fauna encountered on adventures and the everyday. Each piece encourages the viewer to explore personal memories with nature, animals, or literature, to imagine your own narrative from the images.
