Claire Porter was born in Los Angeles, California in 1960 and lived there until she moved to the Texas Hill Country in 2012.
Starting at the young age of 10, Claire fell in love with horses, with her whole heart. She showed hunters and jumpers in the Western Region throughout High School.
After College she showed as an amateur owner as well as trained some young horses that went on to have great success on the East Coast"A" show circuit.
Claire was always drawing, painting and writing poetry as a young child. In High School she usually had her Mother's camera with her, shooting anything that moved her and soon was spending many hours in the darkroom developing her images.
She received a BFA from Southern Methodist University focusing on Photography and Painting.
Over the years, she often had her camera in hand; but not until a few years ago did she decide to travel, on a photo safari to shoot horses and cowboy imagery. As a result of that inspirational experience Claire's two world's joined together and resulted in a natural inspiration to create emotional equine photographs.
Ms. Porter's Fine Art images evoke the elegance, power and grace of the majestic equus. During her process of selecting and developing as image, Claire seeks interesting compositions that create tensions or possess a serene sense of simplicity through dramatic light.
She enhances the strengths in her original images and beautifies them with great attention to detail: inviting you to be within the scene and emotionally touched be her art.
In the excitement of the thrilling moment moment captured, Claire strives to touch you heart and reach your soul with her images.
