As a musician and song writer since the age of 14, Craig has regularly performed in the Houston and Austin areas, singing country, folk, and blues--the roots of American music.
He began painting seriously in 2001. It’s no surprise that the roots of America are in his paintings. "I create dreams that recall the American Experience and values, and true love."
He loves the work of 20th century European artists like Paul Klee, Henri Rousseau and especially Mark Chagall who was also inspired by his roots in a small town in Russia.
"I love music, but right now my creative energy is intensely focused on my paintings. And, of course, music shows up in most of them."
His work has been featured in magazines, and reproduced in festival posters, and even hot sauce bottles!
Craig now lives in Austin with wife and fellow artist Ping Irvin.
