Cyndy grew up in a family of artists and spent much of her childhood influenced by the New York City art world in the 80's and 90's. After a long career in medicine, specifically psychiatry and psychoanalysis, she finds herself more and more immersed in what was a past time, oil painting. Like in psychoanalysis where one works to be still, vulnerable and curious about the psyche, the artist similarly looks for truth and honesty through visual expression. As Akira Kurosawa said, "The role of the artist is to not look away." Cyndy studied still life for over a year under the tutelage of Elizabeth Locke. She has taken many classes locally in Austin and workshops overseas. She focuses and is interested in exploring various styles of landscapes.
