Janis Langley has been a professional artist for more than thirty years. She has worked and studied as an artist since her childhood in San Antonio, Texas, where she was born and educated.
With a specialty in pastel and mixed media, her works are featured in galleries and exhibits, and have won numerous awards. She continues to give workshops and demonstrations for a range of professional and community groups, and to teach art to adults and children.
She is on the board of the Martha's Vineyard Art Association, is vice president of the Austin Pastel Society, and a member of the Central Texas Pastel Society and Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod. Her work has received awards from the Austin Pastel Society, the Central Texas Pastel Society and the Texas Pastel Society and has been chosen for juried exhibits with the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod, Texas Pastel Society, Central Texas Pastel Society, Southeast Texas Pastel Society and the Austin Pastel Society. She won awards in pastel in the All-Island Art Shows on Martha’s Vineyard. Her work is carried at the Old Sculpin Gallery in Edgartown, MA and has been shown in numerous shows and galleries on Martha’s Vineyard and Central Texas. In 2013, one of her paintings was published in a recently book, "The Chappy Ferry" (chappyferry.com/marthasvineyard/).
