Artist
Nana Carrillo

I have been drawing and painting all my life. In support of my fascination with art, when in high school, my parents enrolled me in the Famous Artists Correspondence Course. Throughout my college years I took life drawing and painting classes while majoring in psychology. I have always felt that the best way to express my wonder and love of nature was to try and capture it through art.

Mostly self-taught, I have been actively studying and making art almost daily since 2010 when I retired from a career in child welfare. At that time, I was inspired by the beauty and immediacy of soft pastels, the medium I use most often. Additionally, I work in oils and watercolor, and for sketching I use graphite, charcoal and pen and ink. My style is impressionistic, and because of my lifelong love of nature and the land, you will find most of my work focusing on landscapes, seascapes, and sky views. Wildlife and people are my next fascination, and I delight in capturing the essence of pets, birds, and fauna of many kinds. I have taken many workshops from brilliant fine artists, Patrick Saunders, Phil Stark, Tony Pro, Jude Tolar, and Enid Wood (to name a few), and feel we are so lucky to be able to study with talented artists online, as well.
