I was born in Vietnam. I moved to the United States with my family in 1975. I went to North Carolina State University. There my cartoon series was published in the university’s Technician newspaper during my senior year. I majored in Mathematics Bachelor of Science and minored in Computer Sciences.
I work for Motorola / Freescale / NXP semiconductor as an Integrated Circuit Layout Designer from October 1994 to present. I’m married and have 2 beautiful daughters. Drawing and painting have been my passion since an early age. However, it is only in recent years that I have seriously committed to this creative impulse.
From early 2007 to late 2009, I took art classes from artist Denise Larue Mahlke, PSA. My intention was to learn to paint with oil. After a few lessons, I was introduced to pastels during her art classes and was intrigued by the vibrancy of the medium. As I learned to paint with pastels, I realized that I can express my feelings and passion toward the subject(s) of my paintings best through pastels. It became my choice to use this medium to develop my art skills.
I delayed learning how to paint with oil until early 2011, which I have done with artist Michael Windberg and Dalhart Windberg. I took more workshops with other artists such as Steve Napple, Susan Carlin, Libby Peters, Bob Rohm, Rae Andrews, Dawn Emerson, Rita Kirkman, Terri Ford, Joshua Been, D.K. Richardson and Albert Handell.
